What to evaluate & what to ask the owner
Every DriveThis demonstration runs the same structured experience: a guide before the appointment so you know what to look at and ask, and a review afterwards that rates the vehicle and the owner separately — saved to your shopper profile so you can compare every vehicle you've demonstrated.
Reviews are stored per shopper so you can compare vehicles later. This preview ID is used both when saving a review and when loading "My demonstrations" below.

Seating comfort & visibility
Make sure the cabin fits you before you ever turn the key — you'll spend hours in this seat.
1Take the driver's seat and adjust it fully — height, recline, lumbar, and reach — and note how quickly you found a comfortable position.
2Check the rear seats too (have a passenger sit back there if you can): headroom, legroom, and how easy it is to get in and out.
3From your seating position, check blind spots and over-the-shoulder visibility; if you'll drive, set the mirrors before you set off.
Controls & technology
The everyday touchpoints: what you reach for on every drive, and the screen you'll live with.
1Reach every control without stretching — steering wheel, stalks, wipers, lights, climate — and check that buttons and knobs feel solid.
2Try the controls you'd use daily: cruise control, wipers, climate, and any drive-mode settings.
3Explore the infotainment: screen responsiveness, menu logic, and how usable it is at a glance. Ask the owner what they use most and what they'd change.
4If the owner is comfortable with it, test phone connection (CarPlay/Android Auto or Bluetooth) and sound quality.
Cargo space & practicality
Does your everyday stuff — and your occasional big stuff — actually fit?
1Open the boot/trunk and size it against your real loads: a weekly shop, a pushchair, luggage, sports gear. Load and unload the way you actually would.
2Check interior storage — glovebox, door pockets, cup holders — and how flat the rear seats fold for longer items.
3Ask the owner what surprised them about the space in daily use, better or worse than they expected.
On the road: ride, acceleration, braking & noise
If you're an eligible, verified shopper driving on the owner's supervised route, use it to feel how the vehicle truly behaves.
1Take the same kinds of roads you'd drive daily — a slow stretch, a faster stretch, and a rough one where available — on the owner-supervised route.
2Ride quality: how does the vehicle absorb bumps and imperfections — comfortable, firm, or floaty?
3Acceleration: on a safe stretch, feel how it pulls away and merges. Braking: from normal road speeds, is the pedal predictable and reassuring?
4Road noise: listen for wind, tyre, and engine noise at the speeds you'd drive on a motorway, and ask the owner how it copes on long trips.
The owner lives with this vehicle every day — this is the part you can't get from a brochure.
1Real-world fuel economy: ask what consumption or energy use the owner actually sees in daily driving, and how it compares with the official figures.
2Maintenance history: ask about the service record, what routine maintenance has cost and involved, and where the owner gets it serviced.
3Common problems: ask what issues this model is known for — and which, if any, the owner has experienced or heard about from other owners.
4Ownership costs: ask about insurance, tyres, road tax, and consumables — the costs that never appear on a window sticker.
The owner's verdict
One honest question that cuts through everything else.
1Ask the owner: knowing everything you now know, would you buy the same vehicle again — same make, model, trim, and options?
2Ask what they'd change or choose differently next time, and what they'd miss most if they switched vehicles.
After your demonstration
Rate the vehicle and the owner separately — they're independent. Your review is saved to your shopper ID and stays available for side-by-side comparison.
